I've normally worked late nights on the 3rd and 4th of July. Driving home on those nights, it's common to hear and see fireworks on the way home. Lots of them. Like driving through a war zone some years.
This year? Much quieter. Almost unsettling. I'm sure a lot of it is due to the economy. But still, to notice the change is pretty depressing.
